Part 1: Organic and natural feminine hygiene

by Dr. Sharleen Hawco ND December 05, 2008

Many feminine health care products are not organic and are filled with several different chemicals, additives and made of synthetic material. Organic and natural products are chlorine free, made from organic cotton and natural materials. These natural materials may decrease skin allergens and irritations that some woman may experience during their menses.

Choosing organic and natural products, you are choosing products that take the hazards out of personal hygienic care. Those who use these products, avoid exposure to dangerous chemicals, pesticides, and synthetics while doing something good for the earth.

A quick experiment that you can do is: place a new tampon in a glass of water, and allow the tampon to absorb the water. When the tampon is saturated, take it out and look into the glass of water. Notice all the fibers that are left in the glass. These fibers will remain in the woman’s uterus.

Product information: Natracare pads and liners do not contain polyacrylate absorbents or plastics which, when close to the skin, may cause irritation. Natracare products are between 90 – 100% biodegradable and compostable, made of certified organic cotton and are totally chlorine free. (No affiliation to this company).
