Detox your Diet: Milk, Butter and Egg Alternatives

If you are looking into healthier cooking or baking substitutes (or are sensitive to dairy or eggs), look no further. Here are some healthier cooking and baking substitutes:

Milk substitutes (cakes, muffins, loaves, pudding and pastries):

− Rice milk

− Soy milk

− Almond milk

Butter substitutes (brownies, cookies, quick breads, coffee cakes):

− olive oil

− safflower, sunflower oil

− coconut oil

Egg substitutes for 1 egg (cookies, cakes, loaves, muffins):

− ¼ cup (60 mL) pureed applesauce, bananas, dates, or prunes

− ¼ cup (60 mL) tofu, firm or silken, pureed

− 2 Tbsp (30 mL) nut butter
