Detox your Body: Hot Yoga, Sweat it Out!

Hot yoga is a type of yoga (series of strengthening and toning postures performed to the speed of the breath), which is practiced in a controlled setting that is heated to 105F (40.5C) with a humidity of 40%. Exercise in this environment will continually keep the body warm to help achieve a deeper stretch in the muscles and ligaments. This temperature will also promote sweating, one form of detoxification to help the body rid its toxins and cleanse its skin (thus, ensure you are constantly hydrating yourself during a hot yoga class). Yoga also incorporates the breath in its teachings, which also provides another form of detoxification for the body.

Hot yoga was designed to stimulate and restore health to the muscles, joints and to the organs. Classes are normally 90minutes in length, which consists of an instructor guiding the class through series of postures, which help to strengthen the body, and to improve circulation and detoxification. Many hot yoga studios offer your first class free of charge, to allow you to experience hot yoga and to allow you to see if it is a good fit for you.
